Our Small Farm Story
We’re not your typical hog farmers .
We are Dorothy and Tony Adkins, first-generation farmers, and we founded Twin Oaks Heritage Farm in the summer of 2012. That same season, we realized we couldn’t find certified organic, non-gmo pork anywhere. Not even at the local farmer’s market. We wanted to feed our family with food that was humane and healthy – we just couldn’t find it, at any price point.
We don’t give up easily.
So we went to work learning how we could turn our piece of land into a working farm that would contribute, in a healthy & humane way, to the local food cycle. We chose to raise a heritage breed, the Large Black Hog, known for it’s old world flavor & micromarbling. They make a truly delicious chop, unlike any other you’ve ever tasted.
Taste and flavor aren’t the only things we care about – We also really care about the pigs.
We believe that giving them a happy, healthy life means better tasting (and better for you!) pork. Our hogs are fed certified organic and non-GMO project verified feed. They bask in the sunshine. They root in the dirt. They live a good life here on our farm – they are happy, healthy, tasty hogs.
We’ve done the research so you don’t have to.
We didn’t inherit a farm. There has been so much work along the way to get Grayson’s Premium Pork to market, but it was worth every minute. We were told that certified organic, non-GMO verified pork wasn’t possible. We then set out to create an organic infrastructure at our farm. Once that was completed we researched different hogs and chose the Large Black Hog and thus GPP was created.
We did the research so you don’t have to, and we’ve raised pigs you can happily feed your family, knowing they are full of organic goodness and had a happy, free-range life. We’re thrilled to provide you with a product that we are so proud and so passionate about. We can’t wait for you to taste how delicious they are!
Taste the flavor and judge for yourself.
